Answer:
Because of the amphipathicity and conical molecular shape of fatty acids.
Explanation
They can efficiently incorporate into lipid membranes and disturb membrane integrity, chain packing, and lateral pressure profile. These phenomena affect both model membranes as well as biological membranes. We investigated the feasibility of exploiting fatty acids as permeability enhancers in drug delivery systems for enhancing drug release from liposomal carriers and drug uptake by target cells. Saturated fatty acids, with acyl chain length from C8 to C20, were tested using model drug delivery liposomes of 1,2- dipalmitoyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphocholine (DPPC) and the breast cancer MCF-7 cell line as a model cell. A calcein release assay demonstrated a reduction in the membrane permeability barrier of the DPPC, proportionally to the length of the fatty acid. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and dynamic light scattering (DLS) experiments revealed that C12 to C20 fatty acids could stabilize DPPC liposomal bilayers and induce large structures, probably due to liposome aggregation and bilayer morphological changes. On the other hand, the short fatty acids C8 and C10 tend to destabilize the bilayers and only moderately cause the formation of large structures. The effect of fatty acids on DPPC liposomes was not completely transferrable to the MCF-7 cell line. Using cytotoxicity assays, the cells were relatively insensitive to the fatty acids at apoptotic sub-millimolar concentrations. Increasing the fatty acid concentration to few millimolar substantially reduced the viability of the cells, most likely via the induction of necrosis and cell lysis. A bioluminescence living-cell-based luciferase assay showed that saturated fatty acids in sub-cytotoxic concentrations could not reduce the permeability barrier of cell membranes. Our results confirm that the membrane perturbing effect of fatty acids on model membranes cannot simply be carried over to biological membranes of live cells.
Meanwhile the ovary itself releases a hormone called estrogen which causes the uterine lining to increase in thickness.The uterine lining becomes thicker so that the fertilized egg can attach to it
Answer:
Meanwhile, the ovary itself releases a hormone called estrogen which causes the uterine lining to increase in thickness. The uterine lining becomes thicker so that the fertilized egg can attach to it. It is correct.
Explanation:
The hypothalamus, which is in the brain, releases a hormone called Gonadotrophin Release Hormone (GnRH). GnRH travels to the hypophysis, which is a gland located in the lower part of the skull. The GnRH makes the hypophysis release a hormone called Follicle Stimulant Hormone (FSH). This hormone travels to the ovaries, making it release estrogen. This hormone is in high concentrations during the 4th or 6th day of the cycle up to the 14th day, which is when ovulation happens. Estrogens make the endometrium, which is the outer layer of the uterus, grow making it thicker to prepare itself to attach the fertilized egg and provide to it the necessary nutrients to grow.
If the fertilization does not happen, the thickened endometrium will be expelled from the uterus some days later during menstruation.
In females, the uterine lining is at the site of fertilized egg attachment. The attachment of the fertilized egg makes the lining thicker.
What is the role of estrogen in uterine lining shedding?The estrogen hormone is produced by the ovaries of females. The hormonal cycle with rising, estrogen, and progression causes the menstrual cycle.
The non-fertilized egg triggers the release of estrogen, and the uterine line sheds off.
However, the fertilization of the egg results in a decreased signal of estrogen in the female body, and the uterine lining becomes thick without shedding.
Thus, the statement about the thickening of the uterine lining with the fertilization of the egg is correct.

Period of a wave refers to...
Answer:
The period of a wave is the time for a particle on a medium to make one complete vibrational cycle. Period, being a time, is measured in units of time such as seconds, hours, days or years. The period of orbit for the Earth around the Sun is approximately 365 days; it takes 365 days for the Earth to complete a cycle. Why is flower is reproductive organ
Answer:
The primary purpose of a flower is reproduction. Since the flowers are the reproductive organs of plant, they mediate the joining of the sperm, contained within pollen, to the ovules — contained in the ovary. Pollination is the movement of pollen from the anthers to the stigma.

Answer:
6. Current = 8.33 Amps
7. Energy = 1200 Joules
Explanation:
Given the following data;
6. Power = 1000 Watts
Voltage = 120 Volts
To find the current flowing through;
Power = current * voltage
1000 = current * 120
Current = 1000/120
Current = 8.33 Amps
7. Power = 900 Watts
Time = 45 minutes to hours = 45/60 = 0.75 hours
To find the energy consumption;
Energy = power/time
Energy = 900/0.75
Energy = 1200 Joules

If the pig is on its back, the one doing dissection would say the pig is on the

dosral
ventral
medial
lateral
Answer:
Ventral
Explanation:
This is because when you want to dissect a pig, it's back is place on a dissecting tray and it's belly side is up which is the ventral side. With the ventral side, dissection will be easy and the major organs and systems can be observed easily as they will be rightly viewed because they are obvious and rightly placed at belly side up.

Do the positive charges of calcium ions and sodium ions make these ions more likely to move into or out of the cell?
Answer:
Yes.
Explanation:
Yes, the positive charges on both calcium ions and sodium ions will responsible for the movement of these ions into or out of the cell because the membrane has negative charge which attract these positively charged calcium ions and potassium ions. These difference concentrations of sodium and potassium in the cell are due to the activity of cell membrane active transport system which moves sodium out of the cell and potassium into it.
Yes, the positive charges of calcium ions and sodium ions make these ions more likely to move into or out of the cell.
What do you mean by Diffusion?Diffusion may be defined as a process resulting from the random motion of molecules by which there is a net flow of matter from a region of high concentration to a region of low concentration.
The membrane of a cell possesses a negative charge, so it attracts these positive charge ions and makes a concentration difference that leads to the process of active transport through which sodium moves out of the cell and potassium into it.
Therefore, Yes, the positive charges of calcium ions and sodium ions make these ions more likely to move into or out of the cell.

An organism's physical appearance is called?
Answer: phenotype. An organism's physical appearance, or visible traits. genotype. An organism's genetic makeup, or allele combinations.
The physical appearance of an organism is called its phenotype.
What is the term used to describe an organism's physical appearance?An organism's physical appearance also known as its phenotype refers to the observable characteristics that result from the interaction between its genetic makeup (genotype) and environmental influences. These traits can include features such as size, shape, color, and behavior.
The phenotype is the manifestation of an organism's genes and how they are expressed and it vary both within and between species. Studying phenotypes is important for understanding genetic inheritance, evolution and the overall diversity of life on Earth.
