Why did Civil Rights protestors need non-violent training?

Answers

Answer:

In contrast, the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement chose the tactic of nonviolence as a tool to dismantle institutionalized racial segregation, discrimination, and inequality. Indeed, they followed Martin Luther King Jr.'s guiding principles of nonviolence and passive resistance.

Many Civil Rights protesters took non-violent training in order to be able to stay still and not show reactions when things were happening to them.

Non-violent protests became very popular with the rise of Martin Luther King Jr. He was for non-violent protesting and as you may know, wanted equality for black people and wanted blacks and whites to live together peacefully in society. On the contrary, Malcolm X believed the opposite of Martin Luther King Jr. and believed that non-violent protesting and activism did not work.

Many black people during this time would participate in sit-ins. This is where people sat at segregated lunch counters and waited to be served. Sit-ins are known to be very effective and are one of the most effective non-violent protests. These sit-ins did cause a lot of people to need non-violent training beforehand though, as it is hard not to react when you are being mocked or even attacked.

Non-violent training consisted of people blowing smoke in people's faces, pouring things on their heads, mocking them, and even slapping them around. Many black, and even white people in some cases, did non-violent training in order to prepare themselves for what was to come during these sit-ins or other protests.

What is the desegregation process?

Desegregation is the manner of putting an end to the division of two groups, most frequently races. Researchers can establish whether or not desegregation initiatives are having an influence on settling patterns of distinct groups by measuring desegregation using the measure of dissimilarity.

Although Central High School's integration was taking place, President Dwight Eisenhower dispatched government forces to preserve law and order.

Presidents federalized the armed forces and instructed them to defend the kids in place of the National Guard members who had been utilized by governments for keeping black students out of the classroom.

O the United States joins the League of Nations --> the United States enters World War I
O the United States enters World War 1 --> the sinking of the Lusitania
O the sinking of the USS Maine --> the United States enters World War I

Answers

Answer:

a

Explanation:

A. The Zimmerman Telegram --> the United States enters World War I.

Explanation:

The Zimmermann Telegram was a note that was intercepted by Great Britain and is known for being one of the main causes of the United States joining World War I.

Great Britain had intercepted a note that was coming from Germany and going to Mexico. The note stated that if Mexico attacked the United States, Germany would give them land once they won the war. This obviously never reached Mexico because it was intercepted, but it still struck rage within the people of the United States.

President Woodrow Wilson was adamant about not joining World War I. He even won his re-election using the slogan, "he kept us out of war." Despite Germany sinking the Lusitania, which was an ocean liner with Americans on-board, or them continuing to use unrestricted submarine warfare, he still tried his best to keep the United States out of World War I.

This could not be helped any longer though with the Zimmermann Telegram and the continuing unrestricted submarine warfare coming from Germany. President Woodrow Wilson then asked Congress to declare war and on April 6, 1917, the United States had officially joined World War I.

Option 1:

The United States was involved in three major events during the Cold War: the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War.

a. Describe the US policy of containment and the domino theory.

b. Explain the main agreements that ended the Cuban Missile Crisis.

c. "The United States was effective in containing the spread of Communism." To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Option 2:

The United States was involved in three major events during the Cold War: the Korean War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War.

a. Describe the causes of the Korean War.

b. Explain why the United States lost the Vietnam War.

c. "The United States was effective in containing the spread of Communism." To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Begin your answer by identifying the option you have chosen before you start writing your response.

Answers

Option 1:
a.) The US policy of containment stated that they would contain communism to prevent it from spreading into the other countries. This can be seen in the Korean and Vietnam War because the US fought to stop the others from spreading the idea of communism.
b.) The agreements that ended the Cuban Missile Crisis was the idea of open skies. Each country would disarm their nukes and other atomic weapons and allow the skies to be open for “surveillance.” This, however, ended up failing as a US pilot was shot down after “surveying” the skies. The interesting thing about this is that the US president was already getting rid of all the atomic bombs in the US, but told the SU that they were not going to disarm. This scared the SU into disarming.
c.) in my opinion, I believe this containment policy failed. The US was unable to stop communism as it spread to china. The US tried hard to stop this spread but ultimately failed.

Option 2:
a.) The causes of the Korean War include the fear of spreading communism. North Korea were communist and South Korea were not. Just as the US were going through imperialism, North Korea was too. This caused them to want to spread the idea of communism. They attacked South Korea, so the US lead the counter attack and pushed the North Korean forces back.
b.) Due to the lack of support, the US lost the Vietnam war. There were many factors that contributed to this, making the Americans question the real intentions of the war. For example, the Tet Offensive was a turning point in the war. The war was almost over, and Johnson told the public they were winning, but when the US attacked Vietnam on the Vietnamese New year, they lost support. There was a request for 200,000 more troops and the US people saw this as an act of desperation. There was also the My Lai massacre where innocent Vietnamese citizens- mostly children and women- were killed by US soldiers for no reason. This was all covered up by the US government. The war eventually ended when Kissinger negotiated with north Vietnam. The US ended the longest known war and the last few troops leave Vietnam in 1973. South Vietnam surrendered in 1976, which is considered a loss because the US unsuccessfully helped them.
c.) same as option 1
